The couple who married in April last year, are in the final stages of buying the organic farm in Devon and, with contracts due to be exchanged, they are hoping to move into the 16th Century farmhouse as soon as possible.
Marcus, 26, lead singer of award-winning folk act Mumford & Sons – likened recently by Robbie Williams to The Wurzels, whose hits include Combine Harvester – is even believed to be taking an agriculture course with the Open University.
Fun on the farm: Carey Mulligan and Marcus Mumford are hoping to move in to their new home as soon as possible
He and Hollywood star Carey, 28, are said to be eager to be involved with the day-to-day running of the farm.
The property, right, is set in 350 acres and boasts five bedrooms, while there are also stables and a heated outdoor pool within the grounds.
‘The place is in a secluded valley,’ says a pal. ‘There will be no public access to it.
'A permissive footpath and bridleway, which currently go through the farmland, will be withdrawn next month.’
Quiet life: Mumford and Mulligan have bought a 16th century farmhouse in Devon surrounded by green fields and rolling hills
‘It’s obvious why anyone would want it – it’s beautiful, quiet and out the way. I’ll respect their desire to be left alone as long as they respect mine in return.’
The 44-year-old singer, left, has taken the up-and-coming rapper under her wing and has been sending Iggy messages of encouragement as she prepares to support Beyoncé on the Australian leg of her tour in October.
Iggy, 23, says: ‘Kylie told me to keep going because she knows how hard it is to break out of Australia.’
The news comes as no surprise to Kylie’s close friends, who say that she’s keen to embrace stablemates at her new record label Roc Nation and be seen as a team player.
She has been dating his son Zafar for three years, and now soprano Natalie Coyle says author Salman Rushdie is like a father to her.
‘I don’t have a very good relationship with my own dad so it’s nice to have someone I can talk to,’ said the singer, who will perform the National Anthem at rugby league’s Challenge Cup final at Wembley on Saturday.
‘It’s funny because people ask me what he’s like and I say he’s just like a dad. We’ve even been on holiday together.’
Natalie, 24, lives with Zafar in North London.
