Dobrev opens up about her break-up with Vampire Diaries costar Ian Somerhalder and hanging with best friend Julianne Hough

She's sought the comfort of her best friend Julianne Hough since her split with Ian Somerholder in May.

And while the Dancing With The Stars pro has been going through a break-up of her own -- splitting earlier this year with Ryan Seacrest -- Nina Dobrev insists that they've bonded over more than their failed romances.

'That's not what our friendship is about. Unfortunately, that's how it's perceived, but there's more to us,' she reveals to Cosmopolitan.

'We don't talk about make-up; we talk about life.'

The 24-year-old posed for the cover of the September issue of Cosmopolitan magazine, opening up about redefining herself after her break-up with her Vampire Diaries co-star.
